🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Why I Help Siamese Cats Find Homes

At Siamese Haven, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. Behind every rescue, every adoption, and every happy tail is a team of kindhearted people who give their time, energy, and love to help Siamese cats find their forever homes. Today, we shine a light on one of those special people — meet Emma, one of our long-time volunteers and foster moms.

🐾 How It Started

“I started volunteering with Siamese Haven three years ago, right after I adopted my cat, Milo, from them,” Emma shares. “The experience changed my life. I saw firsthand how much care went into matching me with the right cat, and I knew I wanted to give back.”

Emma began by helping with weekend adoption events, answering questions and comforting nervous kitties. Soon, she was fostering as well, offering a soft landing for cats in transition.

💙 The Work Behind the Scenes

“People think rescue work is just cuddling cats — and yes, there’s some of that — but it’s also a lot of coordination, cleaning, and tough emotional moments,” Emma says. “But every single second is worth it.”

From bottle-feeding kittens at midnight to gently helping shy rescues learn to trust again, Emma has seen the full spectrum of rescue work. Her favorite part? “Watching a scared, silent cat slowly come out of their shell — and then seeing them leave for a loving home.”

🏡 A Few Special Cats

Emma lights up when talking about a bonded pair of seniors, Coco and Bean, who came into foster care after their owner passed away.

“They were terrified at first. They hid for a week straight,” she recalls. “But by the second month, they were both curling up in my lap. When they finally got adopted together, I cried happy tears for two days.”

For Emma, the “why” behind volunteering is simple:

“Siamese cats are such special souls — smart, emotional, talkative. They feel everything. I volunteer because they deserve someone to feel for them too. They deserve second chances.”
